ohmygosh today was so FUN! reached aljunied mrt station at around 7:25am, and almost mistook this other woman for laura cause i was waiting for so long. ahhha. in the end laura and sihui came on the same train. late 5 minutes or so (: so we headed to novena mrt station. and had to squish ourselves onto the uber full mrt... then we walked out of novena and to the busstop where we took 980 to macritchie reservoir park. and then we realised that we were on the 10.3km trail.
so we started walking over. and it was quite fun cause it was so cooling. and there was this old woman who was waiting for her friend at the pavillion. and there was this cute dog! and an old man. and a bunch of guys from SJI who were canoeing or something. and then we started walking... and then we realised we were walking the wrong way cause it seemed like we were walking towards a road. hahaha. and then we turned around and walked right into the forest. and we applied alot alot of mosquito repellant cause we're paranoid people. and then laura was like spraying the thing inside her clothes. and it was so comic lah! cause you can just spray it right onto your clothes. hahah. (:
so we walked. and walked and walked. and everytime we went by those 0.5km markers, we'd go YAY! and when we reached the 2km marker we were half way to the treetop trail thing. and then we saw alot of "secret gardens" ahhaha. and like alot of the people seemed like they were there to jog! they were actually JOGGING along stones and ups and downs and everything. quite cool. so we took alot of pics of the beautiful scenery. and then we were so tired... cause the ground kept sloping. [mum is commenting on my punctuation. how annoying.] so. as we continued our long hike, it sorta reminded us of OBS! ahhhaa. cause the ground was like the same. and everywhere you look its just green and brown. and yeah. we saw very very few flowers. maybe cause its autumn now and there are no flowers around in the rainforest?
it was fairly breezy throughout our hike! very nice weather for a hike through the rainforest (: along the way we walked by PUB... and i think i set off the gate alarm system thing cause i walked right by it and then suddenly the alarm went off. quite scary. and then there was this really steep slope thing which we had to go up, only to find that it was STEPS DOWNWARD to start the treetoptrail. how horrendous of them. so. we were wondering why a treetop trail would be going downwards, so we continued walking up, until we reached a dead end. and then we walked back. and started going down the steps. and then we reached our final destination! THE HSBC TREETOP WALK! like hurray!
while we were walking across, note: VERY SLOWLY, sihui stopped every three steps or so to take pictures. hahaha. cause the view was so cute. and the guy at the first post told us that if we saw a monkey, we should not stare at it. but must walk past and pretend not to have seen it. like so cute lah. when we -finally- reached the end of the treetop trail we were greeted with more steps. up, then down. and lactic acid built up like crazy in my thigh muscles and they cramped very badly. near the end of the trail, some tourists infront of us spotted a coral blue snake. it was really pretty, but didnt show through on the camera, so we didnt get a picture of it. must have been poisonous cause it was so pretty. we continued walking, until we reached the rangers station again. we stopped there for a well-deserved lunch-like-break-thing. my squished sandwiches, and lauras big tupperwares of fruits and snacks. and we couldnt finish the food. but anyway. we picked up this brochure on feeding the monkeys and found out that if you stare at them, they will attack you. so yes. the guy at the first post is a smart guy (:
after our LONG stop at the rangers station we started walking back to Venus drive cause it was supposedly shorter than walking right through the forest- again- but we realised it was really really hot. cause the noonday sun was shining right down on us. and we badly wanted to hitchhike. but all the cars on the road were the really expensive kind. like Lexus and BMWs cause that place has the what Island Country Club and its like for the super rich people lah.
when we finally saw civilisation [main road, tall buildings] we were like super happy cause our feet were totally aching. so we sat at the busstop and waited for 980 again. and then we changed to 21 and came to my house! cause laura and sihui wanted to try to play audition. and then we listened as ryan & friend had a jam session, and played abit of piano, and took alot of really funny pictures. and then sihui had to go cause she has tuition... and now im bored again.
